Being Small in the City received Governor General's Literary Prize, as well as the Silver Medal of Society of Illustrators, in New York. He also received the Governor General Award for Illustrated Children's Books and his books have been nominated four consecutive times for the Best Illustrated Children's Book of the Year award by New York Times.
I Speak Like a River It received unanimous critical acclaim and numerous international awards and nominations.
