Susie Yang nasceu na China, tendo emigrado para os EUA ainda em criança.
Após o seu doutoramento em Farmácia pela Universidade de Rutgers, lançou uma startup tecnológica em São Francisco, através da qual cerca de 20 mil pessoas se iniciaram na área da programação informática.
Estudou escrita criativa nas conceituadas Tin House e Sackett Street.
Já viveu nos EUA, na Europa e na Ásia, residindo atualmente em Seattle. O sonho americano de Ivy Lin é o seu primeiro livro.
