Stephen J. Pyne
Stephen J. Pyne, professor emeritus at the University of Arizona, is an environmental historian with over thirty published books, most of them dedicated to research on the history of fire. In 1967, at the age of 18, he began working as a firefighter in the Grand Canyon, specializing in the early detection of forest fires in the large American national park. This activity led him to the study of fire and made him one of the world's leading authorities on the subject.
