Sören Urbansky, nascido em 1980, é professor de História da Europa Oriental na Universidade do Ruhr, em Bochum. Investiga a história das relações sino-russas, a história das fronteiras e ainda a história das migrações dos séculos XIX e XX. Foi galardoado com inúmeros prémios de investigação pelo seu livro Beyond the Steppe Frontier: A History of the Sino-Russian Border.
