Sophie Kinsella nasceu Madeleine Sophie Townley (Londres, em 12 de dezembro de 1969 – 10 de dezembro de 2025). Estudou Música em Oxford antes de se dedicar à Política, Filosofia e Economia. Começou a escrever aos 24 anos mas foi com a série Louca Por Compras que a sua carreira se firmou internacionalmente. Tem romances publicados em quarenta países, com mais de cinquenta milhões de exemplares vendidos. E o que tem esta autora que agrada tanto aos leitores? As razões do seu êxito são variadas: escrevia com ritmo e graça sobre assuntos que tocam leitores em todo o mundo, nunca era previsível e diverte-nos sempre. Além disso, as suas histórias são românticas, com protagonistas tão reais que cremos inteiramente neles, apesar dos seus momentos mais disparatados.
