Simon Van Liemt
Contrary to what his surname might suggest, Simon Van Liemt is not Belgian, but French, born in Aix-en-Provence. However, it is curiously in Brussels, at the Institut Saint-Luc, that he studied to become a cartoonist, after which he remained in Belgium for some time, at the "Parfois j'ai dur" studio of Ralph Meyer and Bruno Gazzotti. It was there that he learned the narrative fundamentals that quickly earned him notoriety and notably caught the attention of Dominique Latil, who wrote short stories for him for Lanfeust Mag, with Van Liemt joining the Gottferdom Studio upon his return to his native country.
