Shimon Peres foi um dos fundadores de Israel e, por mais de seis décadas, foi um dos arquitetos da sua passagem de um Estado frágil a uma potência global. Em 1994, recebeu o Prémio Nobel da Paz pelo seu reconhecido esforço nas negociações entre israelitas e palestinianos. Dois anos mais tarde, fundou o Centro Peres para a Paz e Inovação, desenvolvendo e implementando programas de promoção da paz em todo o mundo. Faleceu em 2016, aos 93 anos.
