Sebastião Martins
Sebastião José António Martins was born in Angola in 1961. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in Political Science at ISCSP (Instituto Superior de Ciências Sociais e Políticas) at the University of Lisbon.
He specialized in Strategy at the same Institute, with his master's thesis. Political Subversion and Revolution: Global Scenarios and the Angolan Perspective.
This was later adapted into a book, published in 2015, with the title, Global Labyrinths: Postmodern Revolutions and the Paths of Global Uncertainty.
He holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics, a degree in Business Administration, postgraduate degrees in National Security and in Management applied to Public Administration, and also a diploma in Advanced International Studies. In Angola, he was head of the State Intelligence and Security Service, Minister of the Interior, Director-General of the Information Service, and Deputy Minister of the Interior.
He served as National Director of Planning and Finance for the Ministry of the Interior and the General Command of the National Police, and in management and leadership positions within the Ministry of State Security.
In the 1980s, he joined the FAPLA (Angolan Armed Forces), reaching the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
In 1995, he was transferred on secondment to the Ministry of the Interior/National Police, where he built his career, reaching the rank of Chief Commissioner, which he currently holds.
