Sebastião da Gama

Sebastião Artur Cardoso da Gama nasceu em 1924 e morreu em 1952. Foi poeta e professor. A sua obra encontra-se ligada à Serra da Arrábida, onde vivia, que tomou por motivo poético de primeiro plano (desde logo no seu livro de estreia, Serra-Mãe, de 1945), e à sua tragédia pessoal motivada pela tuberculose. Além da obra citada, merecem referência Cabo da Boa Esperança (1951) e Campo Aberto (1950). O seu Diário, editado postumamente em 1958, é um interessantíssimo testemunho da sua experiência como docente e uma valiosa reflexão sobre o ensino, escrita numa prosa de grande qualidade.
