Sebastião da Gama

Sebastião Artur Cardoso da Gama was born in 1924 and died in 1952. He was a poet and teacher. His work is linked to the Serra da Arrábida, where he lived, which he took as a primary poetic motif (right from his debut book, Mother Mountain, from 1945), and to his personal tragedy caused by tuberculosis. In addition to the aforementioned work, other works deserve mention. Cape of Good Hope (1951) and Open Field (1950). your Daily, published posthumously in 1958, is a fascinating account of his experience as a teacher and a valuable reflection on teaching, written in high-quality prose.
