Scott Cunningham praticou a magia elementar por mais de 20 anos. Escreveu mais de 40 livros, de ficção e não ficção, incluindo: Earth, Air, Fire & Water Power; Magical Aromatherapy e Magical Herbalism. Entre seus livros, destacam-se O Livro das Sombras de Scott Cunningham e Wicca – Guia do Praticante Solitário, ambos publicados em língua portuguesa pela Madras Editora.
Suas obras se referem a tudo o que faz parte do mundo da Nova Era, tema que conhecia muito bem. Ele aprendeu wicca enquanto ainda estava no colégio e praticou magia elementar por 20 anos. Vivenciou, pesquisou e depois escreveu sobre o que aprendeu em seu treinamento em magia. Seus livros refletem uma série de interesses na comunidade New Age, onde ele foi muito querido. Cunningham faleceu em 28 de março de 1993, após lutar por muito tempo contra uma doença. Nesta obra, ele compartilha com o leitor um pouco mais de seu grande conhecimento que acumulou ao longo de sua trajetória. Como uma ferramenta designada a acessar informações outrora incompreensíveis, a arte divinatória pode ter um papel vital em adaptar nossas vidas a nossas expectativas, sonhos e desejos.
