Ruth Druart cresceu na Ilha de Wight, de onde saiu com 18 anos para estudar Psicologia na Universidade de Leicester. Em 1993, mudou-se para Paris, a cidade que a inspirou a escrever o romance Uma Nova Esperança para Samuel. Foi lá que seguiu uma carreira em Educação Internacional, casou com um francês e criou três filhos. Aproveitando as viagens diárias de e para a escola onde ensinava, escreveu numerosos esboços do seu romance, a imaginar como seria viver sob a ocupação. Está a escrever o seu segundo romance, enquanto gere um grupo de escrita em Paris.
