Rui Rato, é Presidente do Instituto Europeu do Princípio Unificador, entidade sem fins lucrativos, sendo igualmente um dos principais responsáveis em Portugal e na Europa pela divulgação do Princípio Unificador. Um dos principais interesses do autor consiste na aplicação teórica e prática do Princípio Unificador, na área da auto-educação individual e solidária, incluindo o modo e a via para uma vida mais normal, ecológica e económica, abrangendo: a alimentação, o pensamento e o exercício físico. Dá, ainda, consultas de orientação alimentar e diagnóstico oriental, sendo um dos principais consultores em Portugal. Dá regularmente palestras e seminários, em diversos locais do país. Tem como principais referências o professor Tomio Kikuchi, George Ohsawa, Kikuo Chishima e Louis Krevan, entre outros.
