Mestre em Relações Internacionais pela Universidade dos Açores e Licenciado em Estudos Euro-Atlânticos, pela mesma Universidade;
Para além da sua formação académica o Dr. Rui Pimentel tem formação em Matérias Perigosas;
Segurança de Matérias Classificadas;
Especialidade em Fiscal e Aduaneira;
Especialidade em Controlo de Fronteiras;
Sendo ainda autor do Livro "Manual Prático - Regime de Bens em Circulação". Atualmente exerce funções de Sargento-Chefe da Guarda Nacional Republicana.
