Rui Bebiano é historiador, professor da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Coimbra e investigador do Centro de Estudos Sociais. Nos anos 80 e 90 trabalhou no barroco político e nas representações da guerra nos séculos XVII-XVIII. Nas últimas duas décadas tem estudado temas de história da cultura e das ideias no período que vem da década de 50 até à atualidade. Os seus atuais interesses são a história do tempo presente, dos intelectuais e das representações da utopia. Tem uma dúzia de livros e centenas de artigos publicados, colaborando com regularidade em publicações periódicas e blogues, em particular com crítica de livros e artigos de opinião. É diretor do Centro de Documentação 25 de Abril.
