Rui Araújo é jornalista, trabalhou para a RTP, o Expresso, a RFI, Le Point, Libération, CBS News, TVI, etc.
Foi cofundador da revista Grande Reportagem e o primeiro repórter português a entrar em Timor após a invasão indonésia. Efetuou a cobertura de conflitos (Bósnia, Ruanda, Líbia, Síria, RCA, etc.) e foi o primeiro português admitido na Nieman Foundation for Journalism (Harvard University). Integrou o grupo fundador do International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ). Autor de livros de não ficção, coautor de dois e autor de quatro romances policiais. Tem um blogue sobre o cavaleiro tauromáquico José Bento de Araújo, seu tetravô, que atuou nas praças nos séculos XIX e XX.
