Rosemunde Pilcher (1924-2019) foi encorajada a escrever desde pequena. Tinha 15 anos quando deflagrou a Segunda Guerra Mundial. Terminou os estudos e trabalhou durante um ano no serviço Real Naval.

Rosamunde Pilcher escreveu ininterruptamente durante todos estes anos para várias revistas e publicou mais de uma dezena de livros. Entre eles "Os Apanhadores de Conchas", "O Tigre Adormecido", "Solstício de Inverno", "Carrocel do Amor", "Montanhas Silvestres", "Vozes de Verão", "A Casa Vazia" e "O Outro Lado do Amor".
