Rosa Lobato de Faria nasceu em Lisboa em abril de 1932, tendo falecido a 2 de fevereiro de 2010, aos 77 anos.
Poetisa e romancista, o essencial da sua poesia está reunido no volume Poemas Escolhidos e Dispersos, de 1997. O seu primeiro romance, O Pranto de Lúcifer, veio a público em 1995. Seguiram-se-lhe Os Pássaros de Seda (1996), Os Três Casamentos de Camilla S. (1997), Romance de Cordélia (1998), O Prenúncio das Águas (1999), A Trança de Inês (2001), O Sétimo Véu (2003), Os Linhos da Avó (2004), A Flor do Sal (2005), A Alma Trocada (2007), A Estrela de Gonçalo Enes (2007) e As Esquinas do Tempo (2008).
Foi também autora de diversos livros infantis. Está traduzida em Espanha, França e Alemanha e representada em várias coletâneas de contos, em Portugal e no estrangeiro.
Foi também conhecida do grande público como atriz de televisão e cinema.
Em 2000, obteve o Prémio Máxima de Literatura.
