Roger Chartier
Roger Chartier (Lyon, 1945) is a historian and researcher of Ecole des hautes études en sciences sociales and professor of Collège de France, both in Paris. He is one of the leading contemporary experts in cultural history, with a focus on the history of books and reading in Europe. He graduated from École Normale Supérieure de Saint Cloud and by Paris-Sorbonne UniversityHe also holds an honorary doctorate from the Carlos III University of Madrid and is a corresponding researcher at... British Academy, a member of the Center for European Studies at Harvard University, a professor at the University of Pennsylvania, and recipient of the title of Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters from the French government.
