Richard Dawkins
Richard Dawkins was born in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, in 1941. He studied Zoology at Oxford and received his doctorate under the supervision of biologist Nikolaas Tinbergen, winner of the Nobel Prize in 1973 for his studies in Ethology. He was a professor of Zoology at the University of California, Berkeley. Currently, he is a professor at the University of Oxford. Beyond being a scientist and academic, he has become known as one of the most influential intellectuals of our time. An uncompromising defender of evolution according to Darwin's theory, he is an agile popularizer of science and scientific thought. A controversial intellectual, he fervently and militantly defends the "pride of being an atheist".
