Ricardo Vieira Doutor em Antropologia Social, Pós-doutor em Serviço Social, Agregado em Antropologia da Educação pelo ISCTE e Mestre em Antropologia Social e Sociologia da Cultura pela FCSH-UNL. No ano de 2000, foi galardoado com o Prémio Rui Grácio, prémio nacional para o melhor trabalho de investigação em Educação realizado em Portugal, SPCE. É, atualmente, Professor Coordenador Principal (catedrático) da Escola Superior de Educação e Ciências Sociais do Instituto Politécnico de Leiria, Coordenador do Mestrado da ESECS-IPLeiria, "Mediação Intercultural e Intervenção Social", membro da RESMI - Rede de Ensino Superior em Mediação Intercultural -, Professor Decano do Instituto Politécnico de Leiria e Investigador Integrado do CICS.NOVA.IPLeiria. A sua investigação incide sobre identidades pessoais, sociais e profissionais, histórias de vida e interculturalidade, mediação intercultural, pedagogia social, intervenção social e gerontologia social, matérias sobre as quais tem vários textos e livros publicados em Portugal e no Estrangeiro. Trabalhou em Portugal com Raul Iturra, e em França com Pierre Bourdieu, François Bonvin, Monique Saint-Martin e Marie Elisabeth Handman.
