Ricardo Paes Mamede nasceu em Coimbra, em 1974.

É Professor de Economia Política no ISCTE – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, onde leciona desde 1999 nas áreas da Economia e Integração Europeia, da Economia Sectorial e da Inovação, e das Políticas Públicas. É também investigador do Dinâmia'CET, Centro de Estudos sobre a Mudança Socioeconómica e o Território.

É coautor do livro A Crise, a Troika e as Alternativas Urgentes (Tinta da China, 2013) e coorganizador do livro Structural Change, Competitiveness and Industrial Policy: Painful Lessons from the European Periphery (Routledge, 2014).
