Reto Monico (n. Tessino, Suíça italiana, 1953) fez o liceu em Bellinzona e, em 1977, licenciou-se em História na Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Genebra. Doutorou-se em 2003 com a tese Suisse Portugal: regards croisés (1890-1930), editada em 2005. Prepara em coautoria o livro A Queda de D. Pedro II vista pela Imprensa Europeia (Novembro de 1889). Em 2015 conta editar, pela Universidade de Rio Grande (FURG), Olhares Suíços sobre o Brasil (1889-1964).
