Raymond Queneau
French writer, born in 1903 and died in 1976, initially collaborated with the Surrealist group. With a background in Philology and Mathematics, he always demonstrated a taste for humorous wordplay, notably in *Exercices de style* (1947) and *Cent Mille Milliards de poèmes* (1961). Among his best-known works are: *Pierrot mon ami* (1942), *Le Journal intime de Sally Mara* (1962), *Zazie dans le métro* (1959), and the poetry collections *Petite Cosmogonie portative* (1949-50) and *Le Chien à la mandoline* (1958).
