Raymond E. Feist, é um dos nomes mais importantes de todos os tempos no que diz respeito à literatura fantástica. Nasceu no Sul da Califórnia e vive em San Diego. Estudou na Universidade de San Diego, onde se licenciou com honras, em Ciências da Comunicação em 1977.
Tendo sido traduzido em mais de 23 países, O Mago é a sua primeira obra-prima e a base para toda a sua vasta obra, que atinge constantemente as listas de bestsellers do New York Times e Times of London.
Quando não está a escrever, Raymond é um colecionador de DVDs, estudioso da história do futebol, fã de ilustração e um grande apreciador de bons vinhos.
