Ray Kluun nasceu em 1964 e trabalhou durante vários anos em publicidade. Em 2001 a sua mulher morreu de cancro e algum tempo depois Ray foi viver com a filha para a Austrália, onde escreveu Love Life - De Coração Aberto. Esta sua estreia como escritor tornou-se um dos maiores fenómenos literários na Holanda, país onde vendeu mais de 500 000 exemplares, tendo os direitos sido adquiridos por cerca de 30 países. Figurou durante mais de 70 semanas nas listas de bestsellers. A sua sequela, O Viúvo, vendeu já mais de um milhão de exemplares em todo o mundo.
