Raul Sidnei Wazlawick

He holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC, 1988), a Master's degree in Computer Science from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS, 1990), a Doctorate in Production Engineering (UFSC, 1993), and a Post-Doctorate from the New University of Lisbon (UNL, 1998). Since 1992 he has been a Professor at UFSC (currently as Associate Professor IV). He teaches "Software Engineering II" and "Informatics and Society" in the Bachelor's program in Computer Science, and "Object-Oriented Modeling" and "Research Methodology for Computer Science" in the Master's/Doctoral programs in Computer Science. At UFSC (Federal University of Santa Catarina), he held the following positions: Coordinator of the Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Coordinator of the Postgraduate Program (Master's) in Computer Science, Member of the Postgraduate Chamber, and Academic Director of the Araranguá Campus. At the Brazilian Computer Society (SBC), he served as an Alternate Member for four terms and a Full Member for one term, in addition to coordinating the Special Committee on Informatics in Education between 1995 and 1997. He created and edited the Brazilian Journal of Informatics in Education of the SBC between 1997 and 2001. At the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP), he represented Brazil on the Technical Committee on Education (TC3) for 11 years and chaired the Working Group on ICT and Higher Education (WG3.2) for 2 years. He coordinated several national and international events, including the SBC Congress (2002), the Brazilian Symposium on Software Engineering (SBES, 2006), and, together with Rosa Maria Vicari, the IX IFIP World Conference on Computers in Education (2009). He is the author of the following books: "Analysis and Design of Object-Oriented Information Systems" (Elsevier, 2004; 2nd edition in 2011), "Research Methodology for Computer Science" (Elsevier, 2009; 2nd edition in 2014), "Software Engineering: Concepts and Practices" (Elsevier, 2012), and "Object-Oriented Analysis and Design for Information Systems: Modeling with UML, OCL, and IFML" (Morgan Kaufman, 2014). He has experience in the field of Software Engineering, mainly working in object-oriented systems modeling and improving the software development process. At the Ministry of Education (MEC), he was a member of the Committee of Experts in Computer Science Education (CEEInf) for 4 years and is currently a member of the Advisory Committee for the Information Systems Area for ENADE. He is the General Supervisor of the e-SUS Project, a partnership between UFSC and the Ministry of Health for the restructuring of the primary care information system (Health Centers) in Brazil. Together with his advisee Marília Guterres Ferreira, he received the Best Paper Award at the Ibero-American Conference on Software Engineering in 2011.
