Em 2004, Ramit Sethi estudava Tecnologia e Psicologia na Universidade de Stanford e precisava de dinheiro para pagar o curso. Criou um sistema para se candidatar a 60 bolsas de estudo e, quando recebeu o primeiro cheque, investiu tudo na bolsa. Perdeu metade do dinheiro e decidiu então aprender mais sobre o dinheiro. Descobriu que a maior parte dos conselhos disponíveis era irrelevante e percebeu que a estabilidade financeira não implica restrições autoimpostas ou cautelas, mas sim psicologia. O mais importante é construir a mentalidade certa – e o resto vem por acréscimo.
