Rafael Vieira nasceu em Coimbra, em 1979. Licenciou-se em Arquitetura na Escola de Tecnologias Artísticas de Coimbra e é mestre em Reabilitação de Edifícios pela Universidade de Coimbra. Foi ativista do Movimento Acorda Lisboa, editor da DIF e Le Cool Lisboa e jornalista na revista Coimbra Coolectiva. Além de arquiteto, é jornalista-colaborador em regime freelance. Ficou em segundo lugar no Prémio Fundação Casais CEiiA de Jornalismo para a Sustentabilidade 2023, recebeu uma menção honrosa do Prémio de Jornalismo e Poder Local 2023 da Associação Nacional de Municípios Portugueses e uma menção honrosa de jornalismo da Associação Corações com Coroa, em 2024.
