Platão

Platão terá nascido em 428 a.C., em Atenas, cidade onde também morreu, provavelmente em 348 a.C. Uma das mais relevantes figuras do período clássico da Grécia Antiga, foi filósofo e matemático, autor de diversos diálogos filosóficos e fundador da Academia, em Atenas, a primeira instituição de educação superior do mundo ocidental. Juntamente com o seu mentor, Sócrates, e o seu discípulo, Aristóteles, Platão lançou os alicerces da filosofia ocidental. Entre as suas obras mais relevantes, além de O Banquete, contam-se República, Fédon, Górgias, Íon ou Apologia de Sócrates.
