Philippa Leathley cresceu no leste de Yorkshire, tendo passado os verões perto de Londres com os seus avós excêntricos e a escrever sem parar desde que aprendeu a segurar numa caneta. Quando não está a escrever, gosta de aprender novas línguas e estudar sobre qualquer assunto, desde a História da Moda até naufrágios, e é apaixonada por proteger o ambiente.
Atualmente, vive nos arredores de Hull com a sua família e três gatos resgatados, estranhos e maravilhosos: Bram, Lyra e Theo, o Corajoso.
