Peter Longerich nasceu em 1955 em Krefeld, na Alemanha. É doutorado em História pela Universidade de Munique, foi professor de História da Alemanha Contemporânea na Royal Holloway, da Universidade de Londres, e fundou o Centro de Pesquisa sobre o Holocausto da mesma instituição, que ainda dirige. É considerado um dos maiores especialistas mundiais no Holocausto, tendo recebido vários prémios e bolsas de prestígio pela sua investigação. É autor de vários livros aclamados sobre o tema, nomeadamente as biografias Goebbels e Heinrich Himmler (Dom Quixote, 2016).
