Peter Heller is the author of the best-selling books The Painter and The Dog Stars.

She grew up in New York, where she even washed dishes and delivered pizzas while honing her great passion for writing.

She earned a master's degree in fiction and poetry from the Iowa Writers' Workshop. An award-winning adventure book writer and longtime contributor to national radio NPR, he also contributes to various magazines such as Outside Magazine, Men's Journal and the National Geographic Adventure.

He is also the author of several non-fiction works about his various adventures and expeditions around the world.

She currently lives in Denver, Colorado.
