Austrian writer Peter Handke was born in Griffen, Austria, on December 6, 1942. He spent his childhood there and also in East Berlin. He attended high school at a Catholic seminary and, in 1961, enrolled in law school at the University of Graz. During his student days, Handke frequented the writers' group 'Forum Stadtpark' and published articles in the magazine. ManuscriptHe abandoned his studies after the publication of his first novel, Die Hornissen, in 1965. Since then, he has dedicated his life to writing, distinguishing himself as a playwright, but also as a novelist, poet, screenwriter, and film director.
He was the winner of the 2019 Nobel Prize in Literature.
