Penelope Douglas nasceu no Iowa, a mais velha de cinco irmãos. Tendo vivido uma infância e adolescência como uma rapariga "apagada", decidiu, já adulta, que queria deixar de ser invisível. Percorreu o mundo, desafiando-se a si própria, e nunca se arrependeu. Penelope adora quebrar as regras, sair da sua zona de conforto, e pretende encorajar os seus leitores a fazer o mesmo. Os seus livros foram traduzidos já para 14 línguas. Atualmente, vive em Las Vegas com o marido e a filha.
