Doutor em Economia, desenvolve investigação no Centro de Investigação Interdisciplinar sobre Crime, Justiça e Segurança (CJS), de que é membro integrado, e ainda no Centro de Investigação Jurídica (CIJ) da FDUP.
Tem privilegiado trabalhos científicos relacionados com a avaliação de programas de intervenção no Sistema de Justiça, Violência doméstica, Crimes de colarinho branco, crime organizado e redes criminais.
