Pedro Pita Barros é Doutorado em Economia, Professor Catedrático na Universidade Nova de Lisboa, membro do Expert Panel on Effective Ways of Investing in Health (European Commission), membro do Conselho Nacional de Ética para as Ciências da Vida e membro do Conselho Nacional de Saúde. Exerceu vários cargos oficiais na Universidade Nova de Lisboa. Publica regularmente artigos científicos em revistas de Economia, e Economia da Saúde em particular. Colabora em corpos editoriais de várias revistas científicas. Os atuais interesses de investigação centram-se em Economia da Saúde, Regulação Económica e Política de Concorrência.
