Paulo Lins

Paulo Lins nasceu no Rio de Janeiro em 1958. Iniciou a sua atividade literária como poeta, tendo feito parte, nos anos 80, do grupo Cooperativa de Poetas, através do qual publicou o seu primeiro livro: Sobre o Sol (UFRJ, 1986). Em 1997 publicou um romance que viria a ter uma repercussão mundial - Cidade de Deus -, sobre a violência numa favela no Rio de Janeiro. O romance foi adaptado ao cinema por Fernando Meireles em 2002. Paulo Lins é também guionista, tendo escrito para televisão e para cinema. O seu guião do filme Quase Dois Irmãos, de 2004, recebeu o prémio de melhor guião da Associação Paulista de Críticos de Arte em 2005. Paulo Lins vive em São Paulo.
