Paul Mason nasceu em Inglaterra em 1960.Formado em Música e Política pela Universidade de Sheffield, foi jornalista do The Guardian e do New Statesman, bem como editor de Economia para o Channel 4 e é, desde 2012, professor convidado na Universidade de Wolverhampton. Em 2003, recebeu o Prémio Wincott para Jornalismo de Negócios e, em 2004, o Workworld Broadcaster of the Year, e o Diageo African Business Reporting Award em 2007.Também em 2007, foi-lhe atribuído o importantíssimo Orwell Prize pela reportagem sobre os movimentos sociais de apoio ao presidente boliviano Evo Morales. De entre os vários livros que já publicou, destacam-se Pós-Capitalismo: Guia para o futuro, em 2015, Um futuro brilhante e radioso, em 2019, e Como travar o fascismo, em 2021, todos publicados na Objectiva.
