Patrick McDonnell é um autor bestseller do New York Times e criador das tiras de BD Mutts, que são publicadas em mais de 700 jornais por todo o mundo.
Já recebeu inúmeros galardões, nomeadamente o prémio de honra com maior prestígio no mundo da BD: o Reuben.
O seu primeiro livro infantil – The Gift of Nothing – foi adaptado para peça de teatro pelo The Kennedy Center e em 2012 recebeu a medalha Caldecott.
Atualmente, a Twentieth Century Fox está a adaptar Mutts ao grande ecrã.
