Born in 1943 into a British working-class family, Pat Barker (Patricia Mary W. Parker) studied international politics before dedicating herself to literature. She is the author of several novels (such as Regeneration, The Eye on the Door, The Ghost Road, Border Crossing or Another World) who have been distinguished with the most prestigious literary awards – among them, the Booker Prize and the Guardian Fiction Prize.
