Padre Manuel Teixeira

Monsenhor Manuel Teixeira, conhecido padre e historiador de Macau, nasceu em Freixo de Espada à Cinta em 12 de abril de 1912, mas grande parte da sua vida foi passada no Oriente, nomeadamente em Singapura e Macau.
Com apenas doze anos, viajou para Macau, para aí estudar num seminário. Durante a sua estada no Oriente, monsenhor Manuel Teixeira escreveu 123 livros, tendo estudado, sobretudo, a história da diocese macaense. Entre as condecorações que recebeu, encontram-se a de Oficial da Ordem do Império e as de Comendador da Ordem do Infante D. Henrique e da Ordem Militar de Santiago e Espada.
Faleceu, aos 91 anos, em Chaves, na Casa de Santa Marta, lar onde residiu depois de regressar do Oriente.
