Osvaldo Lopes da Silva

Osvaldo Lopes da Silva nasceu na ilha de São Nicolau (Cabo Verde), em 1936. Cursava Engenharia Civil em Portugal quando, em 1961, integrou o PAIGC e fugiu para aderir ao movimento anticolonial, liderado por Amílcar Cabral. Completou o curso de Economia em Moscovo, tendo depois integrado a luta armada de libertação nacional, como comandante de artilharia. Com a proclamação da Independência de Cabo Verde em 1975, assumiu as pastas ministeriais da Economia e Finanças, até 1986, e de Transportes, Comércio e Turismo, até 1990.
