Northrop Frye
Northrop Frye (1912-1991) was one of the most influential literary critics of the 20th century. He was born in Quebec, but it was in Toronto that he graduated and ended his career as professor emeritus. Victoria CollegeHe was a member of the British Academy and the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Harold Bloom called him, at the time, 'the greatest scholar of Western literature'.
