Nicholas Stargardt

Filho de pai judeu-alemão e de mãe australiana, Nicholas Stargardt nasceu em 1962, em Melbourne, e viveu na Austrália, no Japão, em Inglaterra e na Alemanha. Estudou no King's College, em Cambridge, e é membro do Magdalen College, em Oxford, onde ensina História da Europa Moderna.
«Testemunhas da Guerra» é o seu segundo livro. O primeiro, «The German Idea of Militarism», foi publicado em 1994. O autor tem escrito abundantemente sobre a história da Alemanha moderna, sobre o pensamento político e social e sobre o Holocausto.
