Morris Gleitzman nasceu em Inglaterra, em 1953, e a sua família emigrou para a Austrália em 1969. É autor de vários bestsellers. Muitas das suas obras são sobre assuntos duros, com abordagens interessantes e originais. Escreveu o seu primeiro livro para crianças em 1985. Adotou um estilo descontraído e divertido, o que atraiu desde logo muitos leitores. É um dos autores mais conceituados da Austrália. Recebeu inúmeros prémios como autor de séries televisivas, guiões de cinema e livros infantojuvenis. Os seus livros estão publicados em cerca de vinte países.
