Monika Peetz nasceu na Alemanha em 1963, estudou Filosofia Alemã, Ciências da Comunicação & Filosofia na Universidade de Munique. Depois de trabalhar em publicidade e edição, foi dramaturga e guionista de televisão e cinema na Alemanha e na Holanda.

Os livros Os Jantares das Terças e 7 Dias Sem... tiveram um êxito surpreendente no seu país, onde venderam mais de um milhão de exemplares, e transformaram-se num fenómeno internacional publicado em 24 países. Foram adaptados ao cinema com Ulrike Kriener, Saskia Vester, Nina Hoger, Inka Friedrich, entre outros. Já está em preparação um terceiro filme.
