Mohamed Mbougar Sarr cresceu rodeado de literatura, a ler Balzac e Victor Hugo enquanto os outros miúdos da escola liam livros aos quadradinhos. Estudou Filosofia e Literatura na École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales em Paris. O seu primeiro romance foi distinguido com prémios literários franceses e africanos. A Mais Secreta Memória dos Homens é o seu quarto romance e foi galardoado com o Prémio Goncourt em 2021.
