Michael Marshall Smith venceu quatro vezes os prémios atribuídos pela British Fantasy Society, tornando-se o autor com mais nomeações até ao momento, e ainda recebeu o August Derleth Award para Melhor Romance, em 1995, e o Philip K. Dick Award, em 2000.
O seu livro The Intruders foi adaptado para série televisiva com o mesmo nome, em 2014.
