Michael M. Cox
He was born in Wilmington, Delaware. After graduating from the University of Delaware, he went to Brandeis University to pursue his doctorate with William P. Jencks, and then to Stanford University for postdoctoral work with I. Robert Lehman.
Currently, he is a professor of biochemistry at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His research focuses on recombinant DNA repair processes. He has received awards for teaching and research, including the 1989 Eli Lilly Award in Biochemistry from the American Chemical Society, and two top professor awards from the University of Wisconsin. He co-authored four editions of the book Lehninger Principles of Biochemistry.
